wrapped

After the resounding success of our Wrapped in St Marys event, it’s wonderful to relive it through the many photographs that were taken.

Editing and uploading them is a mammoth task due to the sheer numbers of images.

However, I’m making good progress, and you can now enjoy the event virtually here …

Enjoy!

1949 ford anglia tourer

Ian Summers is a collector and restorer of classic cars, especially the British variety.

He is also one of the St. Marys  Cranks and Tinkerers group which organised the car show during the Wrapped in St Marys weekend.

The Anglia was not part of the car show this year, but it was parked in the street for the day and attracted quite a lot of attention from visitors to the town.

Here is a side view with the roof folded down –

a view of the front –

another side view with the roof up (it is raining, after all) –

and a back view –

This Anglia has an 8-horsepower engine, and used to be driven every day until it was semi-retired out of respect for its age.

Ian even drove it up to the top of Mt. Barrow once, which is quite a feat for such a little engine!

This post would not be complete without a photo of the man himself, so here he is at the car show with a couple of ex-students (he was a teacher in a former life) –

The car show was well supported despite the rain, as mentioned in the previous post.

Here are some more photos from our resident photographer – thanks again, Margit!

The second highlight event for Wrapped in St Marys was the car show.

This is held every year on the first Sunday in June by the St. Marys Cranks and Tinkerers.  Despite the rain, Faulkner’s Green in the town centre was full of classic and/or unique cars, driven by enthusiasts from the local area and across the state.

Michael Rowlings of Herrick was the winner of a cheque* and other goodies; all the visiting drivers also received a show bag of car-related items which had been donated by a number of organisations and individuals.

Many thanks to all who had a part to play in making this 6th annual car show a success, including the Break O’Day Woodcraft Guild for providing public liability insurance.

Here’s a slideshow of some of the highlights:
